The Classic 3 Bean Salad with green beans, garbanzo beans and kidney beans tossed with a sweet and sour dressing created with sugar, vinegar and celery seed is the best summer side dish.

This salad is the excellent make ahead summer season side, we also enjoy serving it along side KFC Coleslaw, Honey Bacon Baked Beans and Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad.

Traditional Three Bean Salad Recipe

3 bean salad was a single of the 1st side dishes I created with my children in the kitchen. I steamed the green beans and they drained and rinsed (and smushed some) of the kidney beans and the garbanzo beans. The dressing was produced and whisked with almost only half of it spilling out of the bowl.

The fantastic point about the dressing is that it is a lot more or much less a marinade. The beans want time to soak up the sweet and sour dressing ahead of serving, so this isn’t a dish I would toss together and serve proper away, it won’t have the old fashioned 3 bean salad flavors you’re searching for.

I make this three bean salad with fresh green beans even although canned are less complicated. It’s the crunch and freshness of the green beans that helps make it so well-known when served. I just trim and minimize them prior to microwaving them for a number of minutes. My preferred way to steam quickly is just to include the vegetables to a glass bowl and cover with a moist paper towel. The paper towel generates steam within the bowl and prevents the vegetables from drying out.
